When and why was Pay TM removed from the Google Play Store?
Is your Pay TM account safe?
Let’s explore.
On September 18, 2020, Google suddenly removed PayTM from the Play Store.
As soon as the news came, there was a lot of panic and people worried about what would happen to their account now. Will they be able to use their balance in the Pay TM account or is it gone.
Google clarified in one of its blog posts that PayTM is violating the policies of the play store, hence this App has been removed.
PayTM tweeted that “No balance will go and all transactions will be done as before, only downloading has been stopped, but we will be back soon.”
Google says that any type of gambling or betting activity is a violation of its policies. Any App that promotes any such activity will be removed. It is also important to know here that speculation is illegal in our country and is a punishable offence. Some Apps promote such betting games to increase their user base.
PayTM has also launched a service PayTM Cricket League, keeping in mind the IPL to be started from 19 September 2020, in which the user gets some stickers on every transaction from which cashback can be earned. Google removed PayTM from its play store stating violation of its policies
Yes, Google also said that if the App Developer changes their services according to our policies, then that App can be published again.
If an App Developer commits such a violation again and again, his App Developer Account is suspended.
Google is going to remove many more such Apps which provide real money or cashback by betting on the tournament.
Such betting Apps become very active during the IPL season, so it was necessary for Google to take this action.
Friends, in India PayTM is a very popular Mobile Payment service provider. According to a report, the user base of PayTM is around 20 crores. Owing to this responsibility, PayTM has withdrawn cashback from its PayTM Cricket League.
And in just a few hours Google has also re-published it for downloading on the play store.
So you can be sure that your PayTM account and your balance is safe.
But yes friends, in this IPL season, you should be careful not to fall into the temptation of such betting given by any App or Website. Because of this you not only lose money but also inadvertently get involved in an illegal activity, which can be a big problem for you.
So be alert, stay safe and enjoy IPL.
Thank you
